Community Media Trust (CMT) a national NGO working in the HIV/AIDS and Human Rights training and media sector, requires an experienced bookkeeper to work in our head office. We are looking for someone who is meticulous about accuracy, who gives gives great attention to detail and who understands the rules of transparency and accountability.
To be successful you need:
- A completed bookkeeping diploma
- 2 years experience of bookkeeping on a computerised system and petty cash management
- Experience of bookkeeping in an NGO or small enterprise environment where all the functions of bookkeeping have formed a part of your job.
- Excellent numeracy skills
- A clear credit record
- Ability to work unattended and under pressure
- Proven Computer literacy in Excel, Word and Email / Internet
- Added Recommendation:
- Experience on Pastel payroll and Pastel Evolution

Community Mobiliser (CDC grant) Advert
MTHATHA, Eastern Cape
Community Media Trust (CMT) a national HIV/AIDS Media and Outreach NGO, is looking to recruit 4 committed, enthusiastic and socially-minded Community Mobilisers (CMs) based in the Eastern Cape.
Community Mobilisers will be expected to network with potential support and partner organisations locally to plan and execute mobilisation activities, such as Open Day and Door-to-door events, that will inform and educate communities while assiting to improve the demand for health services related to HIV Prevention. CMs will report to a Provincial Coordinator.
Applicants should be good public speakers, enjoy working as part of a small team and have initiative to engage possible partners and community members in the activities. Appplicants should have worked for reputable community development agencies, community-based organisations or non-profit organisations and have experience in community development and event coordination.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years experience in community development projects
- Matric certification
- English literacy
- Fluency in isiXhosa
- Proven networking and public speaking skills
- Recommendations
- Tertiary qualification in Health/Community Development/Social Work
- Fluency in Sesotho
- HIV/AIDS knowledge
- Valid driver’s license
- This post requires provincial travel and the availability to work some weekends.

Administrator
CMT requires a committed and enthusiastic individual with office experience to provide administrative support. Main duties include travel bookings and payment processing.
Responsibilities:
- Compile daily and monthly recons & requests
- Prepare and submit financial reports
- Carry out all administrative duties (e.g. sourcing of various quotations, etc.)
- Communicate in a professional way with officials and other external stakeholders
- Prepare various reports using a computer
Requirements:
- At least 3 years admin experience
- Previous travel booking experience
- Admin qualification advantageous

Project Co-ordinator – R12,000.00
Community Media Trust (CMT) a national NGO, requires a committed individual with strong organisational skills to co-ordinate a Social Mobilisation and Media project in the Eastern Cape, based at the head office in Cape Town. The project aims to strengthen HIV prevention in the Eastern Cape through social mobilisation and mass media.
To be successful you need:
- A relevant Social Sciences / Arts Degree
- Practical media production experience
- Practical social development experience
- Excellent communication skills in isiXhosa and English
- Excellent problem solving and organisational / logistical skills
- Excellent writing skills and attention to detail
- Budget management skills
- Ability to work unattended and take own initiative
- Proven Computer literacy in Excel, Word and Email / Internet
- An understanding of health and treatment literacy will be an advantage
- Knowledge of the Eastern Cape will be an advantage
This position will be for a 12 month contract – November 2011 – November 2012.
The co-ordinator will be based at the head office in Cape Town and will be the key liaison between the provincial office staff in the Eastern Cape and head office staff – providing a link between the Social Mobilisation and Media activities. This post requires the availability to work a twelve hour day when necessary and/or weekend work, and the applicant must be prepared to travel to the Eastern Cape from time to time.

Community Journalist - Radio and Print
Position: Community Journalist – Radio and Print
Project: Strengthening HIV Prevention in the Eastern Cape through Social
Mobilization and a Media Cascade, supported by the US CDC (United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention)
Desired Qualification: Three year Journalism/Film/Radio making qualification or tertiary qualification in a similar area of expertise
Skills: Excellent verbal and written communications skills, in English and isiXhosa
Contract: 12 Months – January to December 2012
Location: Mthatha Eastern Cape
Work hours: A minimum of 40 hours per week, a maximum of 72 hours per week. Hours depend on the research required, pre-production, on location recording and post production requirements. There will often be weekend and public holiday work.
Salary: R 5 500.00 per month
Job entails: Researching community-based stories related to HIV and AIDS prevention in communities throughout Alfred Nzo and O.R Tambo districts. Applicants must be prepared to travel. Writing treatments for the stories and recording the stories for Radio broadcast. Working closely with the project staff in the Eastern Cape office as well as the Cape Town head office. Handing in all admin work related to the production of the story.
