Community Media Trust (CMT) is a not for profit company, producing HIV/AIDS public health education material since 1998 under the Siyayinqoba Beat It! brand.

CMT is undertaking  a Randomised Control Trial to evaluate the impact of Community Health Workers on the uptake and delivery of Prevention of Mother to child Transmission (of HIV) services in the Motheo District, Free State.

The organisation seeks to employ a Research Coordinator, based at the Head office in Muizenberg - Cape Town, to oversee the implementation of the intervention.

The coordinator will be required to manage the operational aspects of the project, coordinating with the field team and other relevant stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

Manage the operational and logistical components of the study

Conduct regular site visits and oversee the work of Field Team

Manage the relationships with the Data Collection and Qualitative Research Teams

Liaise with relevant external stakeholders such as Department of Health representatives and Community Members

Manage project budget

Compile regular project reports for organization and funders

Requirements:

Degree with previous project management experience

Knowledge of public health sector

An understanding of HIV/AIDS community based education would be an advantage

Ability to travel to field sites in and around Bloemfontein, Free State essential

Excellent Report writing and spoken English ability

Ability to speak Sesotho would be an advantage

Drivers license essential

 

Salary:  To be negotiated.

Public Relations Officer to promote Siyayinqoba Beat It! Series VI

Community Media Trust seeks to appoint a confident, well spoken, motivated PR to promote our 26 part TV Series - Siyayinqoba Beat It!    The first broadcast is on the 8th of August 2010.  Presentation skills, communication skills and strong networking abilities are essential.    Contacts must have strong written English skills and should have contacts in press and television media.   Applicants must reside in the Cape Town area (office is in Muizenberg) and experience in journalism and or TV production is preferred.   A valid drivers license, own car and access to own computer and phone is essential.

Candidates must be self starters who need little supervision.   This position requires high energy levels and the applicant must be happy to work evenings and weekends as the job requires.

Applicant requires an understanding of SA media.  The position will entail monitoring the media, including newspapers, magazines, journals, broadcasts, social media, television, radio, newswires and blogs, around opportunities to promote the show and its messages.   The candidate will assist in writing press releases and in co-ordinating interviews with the shows host and representatives.

The contract will start from mid July and will continue for up to end of November maximum.

Interviews will occur week 5th - 9th of July.

Salary negotiable depending on experience.
