Beat It! 2000 Episode 3 - Dr Hermann Reuter

In the Support Group Dr Hermann Reuter answered the members' questions about the progression of HIV and various opportunistic infections. Dr Reuter also gave practical rules for better living with HIV.

Beat It! 2000 Episode 10 – Support Group

In the Beat It! support group Dr Reuter shared some rules for better living with the members. Antoinette Fouché confessed to smoking marijuana and the doctor pointed out that smoking “dagga” holds no benefits for people living with HIV/AIDS.

Beat It! 2000 Episode 12 - Support Group

We invited traditional healer Mercy Manci to join the support group where she showed what the major benefit of enlisting traditional healers into the response to the epidemic can be. Traditional healers can and do provide the very necessary emotional and spiritual support that people living with HIV require.

Beat It! 2000 Episode 13 – Support Group

The support group, having supported each other throughout the series, wanted to further empower themselves with knowledge and information. Adeline and Antoinette had accessed more information on clinical trials and had presented it to the group. Marius in turn had gathered information on sex workers and their rights and on services for the LGBT community. At the end of the insert Antoinette announced that she and her partner would become foster parents in the near future.
